Organosolv Lignin for Non-Isocyanate Based Polyurethanes (NIPU) as Wood Adhesive

چکیده

A non-isocyanate-based polyurethane (NIPU) wood adhesive was produced from organosolv lignin, which is a bio-sourced raw material, available in large quantities and as by-product of the paper industry. The formulation this new lignin-based NIPU adhesive, presented, chemically characterised by Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization Time Flight (MALDI ToF) mass spectrometry Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) analyses. oligomers formed were determined showed that three species involved preparation co-reaction reagents used: dimethyl carbonate, hexamethylene diamine. Linear branched structures both identified. Mechanical properties using Automated Bonding Evaluation System (ABES) internal bond (IB) strength test laboratory particleboard bonded with it. has shown satisfactory mechanical after hot pressing at 230°C. Such temperature used industrially most modern factories, but since it hardly feasible for more conventional bonding equipment, reactivity successfully increased addition small percentage silane coupling agent. With silane, proposed could also be hot-pressing lower than 200°C.

Synthesis and Characterization of Starch-based Aqueous Polymer Isocyanate Wood Adhesive

Modified starch was prepared in this work by acid-thinning and oxidizing corn starch with ammonium persulfate. Also, starch-based aqueous polymer isocyanate (API) wood adhesive was prepared. The effect of the added amount of modified starch, styrene butadiene rubber (SBR), polymeric diphenylmethane diisocyanate (P-MDI), and the mass concentration of polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) on the bonding stren...

A novel 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid-based bis(cyclic carbonate) for the synthesis of biobased non-isocyanate polyurethanes

This paper describes the synthesis of a new biobased bis(cyclic carbonate) derived from 2,5furandicarboxylic acid (FDCA) with the incorporation of CO2. The bis(cyclic carbonate) was then used to synthesize non-isocyanate polyurethanes (NIPUs) via polyaddition reactions with a series of diamines. The chemical structures of the bis(cyclic carbonate) and the NIPUs were characterized by Fourier tra...

Demonstration of laccase-based removal of lignin from wood and non-wood plant feedstocks.

The ability of Trametes villosa laccase, in conjuction with 1-hydroxybenzotriazole (HBT) as mediator and alkaline extraction, to remove lignin was demonstrated during treatment of wood (Eucalyptus globulus) and non-wood (Pennisetum purpureum) feedstocks. At 50 Ug(-1) laccase and 2.5% HBT concentration, 48% and 32% of the Eucalyptus and Pennisetum lignin were removed, respectively. Two-dimension...

Morphology-property relationships in wood-fibre-based polyurethanes

Many of the advances in material performance over the last decade can be attributed to developments in multicomponent polymer systems and specifically, to multiphase materials such as incompatible polymer blends and fibre-reinforced composites. In these types of material, performance properties are often dominated by the interphase that defines the transition region from one pure phase to anoth...

Organosolv Wheat Straw Lignin as a Phenol Substitute for Green Phenolic Resins

Organosolv wheat straw lignin extracted using the CIMV process is a linear, low molecular weight, and natural phenolic oligomer. In this study, organosolv wheat straw lignin was tested as a substitute for 50% to 70% of the phenol in a phenol-formaldehyde-resol resin. The lignin was used without any chemical modification in a one-step synthesis reaction. Parameters such as reaction time and form...
